Sausage + Spinach Pizza
March 18, 2021
Skip take-out pizza and make it at home instead! Sausage + Spinach Pizza is loaded with so much flavor that will help to make the most of family pizza night!

Shortcut to Success
While I have made a homemade pizza dough countless times, and even have a simple recipe here, in this chapter of life I’m leaning into shortcuts in the kitchen and that includes buying pre-made pizza dough. I love the pre-made pizza dough you can find at Trader Joes and tend to pick up a few extras each time I buy it and stick it in the freezer for upcoming pizza nights.
An Ingredient Match Made in Heaven
Chicken sausage and spinach pair so well together. I love the deep, slightly spicy flavor from the chicken sausage complemented with that good-for-you spinach taste. Bright cherry tomatoes and fresh basil really bring home these classic flavors making a simple, yet super delicious pizza that everyone in your family is sure to like.
Thank you Trader Joe’s
While you can certainly make this recipe shopping at any store, this just happens to be one of those recipes where I can pick up everything I need for the recipe in minutes at Trader Joes. I’ve done it so many times that I could literally walk into the store with my eyes closed and put everything for this pizza recipe in my cart! It’s so important to have an arsenal of recipes like that in your repertoire. Quick, easy, simple to pull together and most importantly, DELICIOUS!

Sausage + Spinach Pizza
- Yield: 8-10 servings 1x
Ingredients
- Trader Joe’s Pizza Dough (or any other prepared pizza dough)
- 1 lb. sweet Italian chicken sausage
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella
- 1 cup Baby spinach
- ½ cup Grape tomatoes, halved
- Fresh basil, for topping
- olive oil, for drizzling
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450ºF and grease a pizza pan, stone or sheet tray. Cook sausages, breaking up with the back of a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
Stretch pizza dough across pan using a bit of flour if the dough is too sticky to handle. Aim for an even layer. Spread pizza sauce over dough and top with cooked chicken sausage, cheese, fresh spinach, and tomatoes.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the bottom of the crust is brown and crispy and the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with fresh basil (if desired) and drizzle with olive oil just before serving.
