Back to School Cookie Craft

August 6, 2021

Having trouble getting your kiddos excited about being back to learning, especially with math… here’s a fun way to incorporate school into dessert!

Numbers + Frosting = Delicious!

Try this simple cooking craft that will get everyone in the spirit to hit the books and head back to school. Make these flashcard graham cracker cookie sandwiches by simple spreading chocolate buttercream frosting in between two graham cracker cookies. Not a frosting fan? Try with your favorite nut butter, marshmallow fluff or Nutella!

Decorate the tops of the cookies by using white frosting to pipe on traditional numbers and letters that you’d find on flash cards. You could also use different colors of frosting for different math problems, like blue frosting for subtraction, yellow for multiplication.

These cookies are best if you make them a day in advance and let them sit in an airtight container overnight. They get soft and chewy and are so delicious! It’s a great alternative to a traditional cookie or cupcake and easy enough that your kids can help make them.

Learning Never Tasted So Good!

My own mom made these cookie sandwiches for me and my siblings growing up! Such a fun treat for a bake sale or as a gift to the teacher on the first day. How did you practice math growing up? One of my friends told me that her dad used to help her add and multiple with M&Ms.
